About the Collections
The collections of digital images in the NCCU-SLIS Digital Library are created as part of a class project (LSIS 5420 Introduction to Digital Libraries). Students of the class selected, scanned , organized, and made them accessible to the public through CONTENTdm. In 2006, the first digital library class developed NCCU-SLIS History collection. Beginning with 2007, two more collections are added, and currently three collections including NCCU-SLIS History, NCCU Yearbooks and Durham Postcards have been created.

2006
- A mini grant was received to start a digital librarianship curriculum at NCCU-SLIS.
2007
- The first digital library course named “Introduction to Digital Libraries” was open. The first class project, NCCU-SLIS History Collection was created.
- NCCU-SLIS Digital Library Conference held in April 27, 2007 in order to inform the School’s effort to initiate digital libraries education. Ira Revels from Cornell University was a key note speaker. . Read more
2008
- Digital Library Lab was open on the second floor of Shepard Library. The equipment in DL lab includes seven PCs, seven scanners, CONTENTdm, CS3 Web Standard Software including Photoshop, Dreamweaver, Adobe Acrobat Writer, etc. See more
- A proposal of specialization in Digital Libraries at NCCU-SLIS was approved at the School level and ready to move to the university level.
