  • How many courses can I transfer to NCCU SLIS?
    • If approved, you may transfer up to six semester hours, i.e., two courses. You will need to request that these courses be transferred. You need to specify which courses these are, and you need to provide course outlines for these courses. The lead faculty in the pertinent areas will review the course outlines and determine whether the courses are acceptable. Please note that you cannot transfer courses that would replace our core courses.
  • I already have a Masters degree. Do I have to take the full 36 hours?
    • Our “Information for Prospective Students” states that “In satisfaction of the requirements for the master’s degree, graduate work not to exceed six semester hours may be transferred from approved graduate schools.” The key word is may.You need to request that up to six semester hours (usually two courses) be transferred. You need to specify which courses these are, and you need to provide course outlines for these courses. The lead faculty in the pertinent areas will review the course outlines and determine whether the courses are acceptable.
  • The courses that have been approved for transfer aren’t showing up on my Banner transcript. What do I do?
    • Typically, these courses don’t get transferred into the NCCU Banner system until you file for graduation. When you submit your form for graduation and if you have met all of the School’s requirements, the Associate Dean submits a form telling the Registrar to let you graduate. If you have transfer credits, they are listed on that form and added to your Banner record at that time.
