PLOs for the MIS program:

Approved by the MIS committee and accepted by the Curriculum committee on 2/05/08

Students in the MIS program will gain the technical and communications skills needed to facilitate information system design and development to help people and organizations function more effectively. 

 

Students in the MIS program will analyze the needs of users and apply the appropriate technical skills to develop data handling, information organization and knowledge management systems.

 

Students in the MIS program will demonstrate technical, written, and graphical skills in collaborative information system project analysis, design and development.

 

Students in the MIS program will learn to recommend and implement tools that respect intellectual property and support strategic goals for information technology.

 

ü      Technical skills

 

Students in the MIS program will work both independently and collaboratively to conceive, prototype and build new interfaces or systems for individual, departmental or organization-wide information management projects.

 

ü       Project design and development skills

 

Students in the MIS program will prototype, develop, refine, and share independent projects related to classroom subjects that are relevant and useful to active fields of inquiry and current challenges in Library and Information Science.

 

ü      Written and graphical skills

 

Students in the MIS program will have extensive experience articulating their analytical and technical abilities in written and oral modes and be able to report effectively in documents and presentations.

 

 

PLOs for individual tracks in the MIS program:

 

ü      Network and Telecommunications track

 

Students in the Networking and Telecommunications track of the MIS program will be able to analyze computer networks, particularly in areas related to strengthening network defenses against threats to security, implementing network protocols, properly configuring network components, and improving the ability of the network to support data transfer.

 

ü       Strategic Management track

 

Students in the Strategic Management track of the MIS program will be able to recommend and implement tools for data mining and knowledge management within businesses and other organizations.
