  • Is the practicum required for students in the School Media Coordinator program?Yes. Students in the School Media Coordinator program must fullfill the Practicum requirement by taking LSIS 5620 or by working full time in a School Media Center as a Media Coordinator for at least one year.If you have worked in a School Media Center for at least one year, have your supervisor complete and sign the Exit Criteria Form. Send the completed and signed form to the Dean’s Assistant to be filed in your records. Completing that form will fulfill the Practicum requirement for the School Media program, and you will not need to register for LSIS 5620, Practicum.

  • Can I complete the Exit Criteria Form in lieu of taking the practicum if I have worked a year as a Media Assistant? Or do I have to have worked as a Media Coordinator?You have to have worked full time as a Media Coordinator for at least one year in order to complete the Exit Criteria Form in lieu of taking the practicum. Your supervisor completes the Exit Criteria for you, and you mail it to the Dean’s Assistant. The Exit Criteria Form must be received at NCCU SLIS before you can graduate.
  • Is the practicum required for students in the Special Libraries program?No. The practicum is not required for students in the Special Libraries program. It may be a valuable experience, however, and each student should consult her or his advisor first.
