Collection Development Specialist

Atkins Library at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte is seeking a Collection Development Specialist responsible for purchasing continuing resources for the Collection Services department. The successful candidate will have the primary responsibility of ordering and paying for serials, databases, and other electronic materials and maintaining accurate records in both the library management system and the university financial system, working directly with the Financial Services department. This position will also assist the collection services department in the collection review process, organizing and maintaining license agreements, and managing electronic resources usage statistics. Graduate Assistantships for Spring 2017 – Applications Due on January 6, 2017 at 5:00 pm

SLIS is hiring graduate assistants for the Spring 2017 semester.  We are hiring multiple Graduate Assistants who will serve in one of three roles as Graduate Research Assistants, Graduate Teaching Assistants, and Graduate Technology Assistants. This is open to on-campus and online students.The description of each position is below and is also detailed in the online application.

You must meet important requirements. 
1.       Minimum GPA: Students  have at a least a 3.0 GPA
2.       Admission Status: Student must be admitted to the program unconditionally (or met the requirements to remove their conditional status)
3.       Enrolled full-time: Students are required to be registered for at least 9 credit hours. If you are a new student, you may skip the GPA requirement.

Please attach a resume and a cover letter confirming you meet the general requirements for employment and stating which position you are interested in and why. Assistantships begin on February 1st, 2017 and run through May 13th, 2017. Graduate assistants also assist with SLIS Graduation. Next year’s graduation for Spring 2017 semester will be held on  May 12, 2017.
 
Position Duties and Descriptions:
 
1.       Graduate Teaching Assistants and Graduate Technology Assistants –
·         Will assist with the development, delivery and maintenance of SLIS’ digital learning ecosystem and distance (online) education courses in various combination of roles in instructional design, online course technical support, content developers and instructor development and support.
·         Will assist with the SLIS web site and social media platforms to develop strategies, develop content, web development, and maintenance.
 
2.       Graduate Research Assistants –
·         (High priority) Assist with the grant proposal writing and development and the related research to prepare grants and seek funding opportunities.
·         Support faculty research in various areas TBA based on faculty needs.
 
3.       Graduate Dean’s Office Assistant –
·         Assist with high priority activities to manage activities in the student lifecycle ranging from recruiting, on-boarding, enrollment, financial aid, service learning, graduation, alumni relations and fund raising  through marketing and communications, IT strategy, database development, CRM management, data analysis, data curation, business process reengineering and records management.
